Biography & Philosophy

DRAWING CLARITY IN A COMPLEX WORLD.

I am Cristina Martin Recasens, a Barcelona-based illustrator working globally since 2010. My work bridges the gap between traditional fine art and modern digital demands, serving publishers, brands, and institutions across Europe and the US.

I studied Artistic School in Vendrell town, Tarragona and spent a few years for the Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia until she found her vocation illustrating.

Methodology & Services

WHY HAND-DRAWN MATTERS

In an era of generative algorithms and instant imagery, I believe the human hand offers something unique: intention. Every line I draw is a deliberate choice to convey emotion, irony, or tenderness.
My style is rooted in the warmth of organic textures—watercolor, pencil, ink—translated into precise digital files. This allows me to create images that feel timeless and tactile, yet are flexible enough for the fast-paced workflows of The Boston Globe or Usborne Publishing.

The Newsroom Pace

I thrive on tight deadlines. Having worked with major newspapers, I understand the urgency of the news cycle. I can turn a complex brief into a finished conceptual illustration within 24-48 hours, delivering reliability when it matters most.

The Storyteller's Patience

For children’s books and campaigns, I switch gears. Here, I dive deep into character development and world-building. I work collaboratively with Art Directors to ensure that every page turn offers a new discovery for the reader.
